Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Boom: A 26% Rise in Visitors in 2024

Abu Dhabi has reached a remarkable milestone in its tourism sector, recording an impressive 26% increase in hotel guests compared to the previous year during the first ten months of 2024. The UAE capital welcomed close to five million visitors during this period, according to the latest data released by the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi.

Transformative Tourism Strategy for 2030

Aligned with its ambitious Tourism Strategy 2030, Abu Dhabi aims to draw 39.3 million visitors annually, create 178,000 new jobs within the tourism sector, and contribute AED 90 billion (USD 24.49 billion) to the GDP by the end of the decade. To support this vision, the emirate has allocated AED 36.72 billion (USD 10 billion) for infrastructure enhancement, setting the stage for robust growth in the years to come.

The Appeal of World-Class Events

Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global hub for international events continues to grow. The city has hosted premier events such as the NBA, the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Indian Premier League cricket matches, the ITU World Triathlon, and the FINA Swimming World Championships, further cementing its status as a magnet for sports enthusiasts worldwide.

Cultural and International Appeal

The rise in international arrivals was driven by key markets such as India, China, Russia, the UK, and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, over 3.9 million people attended Abu Dhabi’s cultural events and visited its iconic landmarks, marking a 21% increase compared to the previous year.

Abu Dhabi’s efforts to craft unforgettable experiences and invest in world-class infrastructure are setting new benchmarks, attracting visitors from across the globe while positioning itself as a thriving hub for culture and innovation.
